1. I lost my traffic citation, what do I do?

There are two ways to handle this issue:
1. If you need to appear in court, you can call the San Gabriel Police Department at (626) 308-2828 and ask to speak to a Records Specialist. They will assist you in getting the citation number, court date, and violation to assist you in court.
2. If you need a copy of a citation, you can visit to the San Gabriel Police Department (625 South Del Mar Avenue, San Gabriel) and request a copy of the citation. San Gabriel Police Records Bureau hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00 pm.

2. My personal property is being held at the San Gabriel Police Department. How can I get it released?

Property is oftentimes held by the police department for a variety of reasons including seizure as evidence to a crime, safekeeping after an arrest, found property, or the storage/impound of a vehicle. Depending upon the circumstances, the release of property will often require the approval of a supervisor and in all cases will be released by appointment only by contacting the Evidence & Property Technician at (626) 308-2855.

Authorization for the release of stored or impounded vehicles can be obtained at any time in the police department lobby and are subject to a $155.00 service charge (except recovered stolen vehicles), as well as additional storage fees imposed by the towing company.

3. What are the Police Department business hours?

Our lobby is open for police business 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For business with our Records Bureau and/or information on obtaining a police report, the Records Bureau is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to  5p.m.; excluding holidays. 4. Where is the San Gabriel Police Department located?

The San Gabriel Police Department is located on the corner of Del Mar Avenue and Mission Road at 625 South Del Mar Avenue, San Gabriel, CA 91776.

5. What telephone number do I call for routine police services?

For routine services call: 626.308.2828. For emergencies call 9-1-1.

6. What telephone number do I call for EMERGENCY police response?

Using any phone, call 9-1-1 for EMERGENCIES and speak with the operator.

7. How do I get information about job opportunities as a police officer?

If you are interested in becoming a police officer, please call the Administrative Services Sergeant at 626.308.2843. The Administrative Sergeant is in charge of personnel hiring for the department and can answer your questions and assist you.

8. Does the Police Department handle calls regarding barking dogs and other animal issues?

Yes, the Police Department will respond to animal noise complaints and other concerns with any animal problem. The City of San Gabriel also contracts with the San Gabriel Humane Society to handle matters of animal pick-up and to assist the Police Department when requested.

9. Does the department have a K9 unit?

Yes, the department has two K9 units, one for the day shift and one for the night shift.

10. Is it a violation of City Ordinance to solicit door-to-door?

Yes. Commercial (other than political and religious), door-to-door solicitation is a violation of City Ordinance, unless a permit has been granted in accordance with City Ordinances.

11. Can I get my fingerprints taken at the San Gabriel Police Department?

The Police Department does not provide fingerprint services.

13. Can I file a police report online?

Yes, certain types of reports can be filed immediately online for your convenience that meets the following criteria: 
•The incident is not an emergency •The incident occurred within the City of San Gabriel 
•There are no known suspects
 In addition, you must provide an email address to file an online report and it is usually reviewed and approved by department staff within a few days. Once approved, a free copy will be sent to your email for your records.
