As the San Gabriel trench project nears completion, construction crews will be closing off the bridges at Ramona Street and Del Mar Avenue over the trench from September 6 to October 4. Both bridges will be milled and overlaid to provide a smooth transition for motorists as they travel across both bridges. Once work on the Ramona Street and Del Mar Avenue bridges is complete, construction will then transfer to the Mission Road and San Gabriel Boulevard bridges.

A look at the Ramona Street bridge, which resides over the trench

The shoo-fly that resides next to the trench. This is expected to be removed during construction.
In addition, train service began in the trench this past Saturday as Union Pacific Railroad continues to test the new tracks. Testing has been going well, and the removal of the shoo-fly – which is the temporary railway track that currently resides next to both the Ramona Street and Del Mar Avenue crossing – is expected to start after September 6.
While both crossings are closed, residents are encouraged to use alternate routes to get to their destination. For more information on the status of the ACE project, please call 888.ACE.1426 or visit this page.
