Community Services’ after-school program is returning to your child’s elementary school this year! Beginning on August 21, children in second grade to fifth grade can participate in traditional fall sports, homework assistance, arts and crafts alongside other fun activities.
The sports program will only be available for children from third grade to fifth grade, and the after-school program will be held at Coolidge Elementary School, McKinley Elementary School, Washington Elementary School and at Wilson Elementary School. This program will run five days a week from 2:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. Community Services will begin taking sign-ups on Monday, August 21, so be sure to meet the recreation leaders at your local school. Participants must have a parent or guardian complete and sign participant information forms. Once completed, be sure to return these forms to your local recreation leaders. These programs require participants to sign-in and sign-out.
In addition, Jefferson Middle School will begin their after-school sports program during the week of August 28. The school’s traveling flag football and girls’ volleyball teams will be chosen from the intramural program, and intramurals for the fall sports will be held on Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The program will run from August 30 through October 25. Practices and games for the traveling teams will be held on Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Don’t miss out on all the after-school fun this fall, and be sure to sign up today. For more information on youth programs, please contact Recreation Supervisor, James Lara at 626.308.2875 or via email at jlara@sgch.org.
