In an effort to prevent coyote encounters and improve coyote education, the City of San Gabriel launched its “Living With Coyotes” webpage: www.sangabrielcity.com/coyotes. This webpage contains information and guidelines on how you can protect your family and pets from coyotes, including long-term techniques on how to reduce the number of coyotes in your area.
Also featured on the webpage is an online Coyote Encounter Report for you to report any coyote sightings or conflicts. The data collected will help the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the City of San Gabriel research coyote trends.
At the bottom of the webpage, you will find links and handouts from other agencies on how to deal with coyotes and how killing or relocating coyotes does not work. Unless there is an immediate threat to human life, the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society or the City of San Gabriel will not trap, relocate, or kill coyotes.
