Indie pop artist Clara C will headline the 3rd Annual San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday, Jan. 28 in the historic Mission District.
Clara C is well known for her sultry vocals and original melodies, and she has played shows across the globe including at the Hollywood Bowl and the White House Department of Education. She is a one-woman band who plays several instruments, produces, writes and even directs her own content.
Clara C is one of dozens of unique and entertaining artists that will perform at the festival, packing the outdoor stage day long. The day's entertainment will include traditional acts such as the Immortals Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe, Sound of China Guzheng Ensemble, Jung Im Lee Korean Dance Academy, Lee Shin Tae Kwon Do, Asian Arts and Talents Foundation, USC Taiko and Master Chung Face Change and Acrobat. There will also be special performances on stage inside the iconic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, including storyteller Barbara Wong and musical group Suzanne Teng & Mystic Journey.
The second half of the festival will feature more modern artists such as singer/songwriter Matt Almodiel, indie R&B artist Jessica Louise, multi-instrumentalist Jane Lui, singer/songwriter Ryan Yoo, indie artist Timothy John and San Gabriel native and singer/songwriter Olivia Thai.
The festival MCs will be Cindy Lee and Mark Han, show hosts from TV station KSCI LA18, along with Minji Chang, executive director of nonprofit Asian American entertainment group Kollaboration.
