The City of San Gabriel, in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, is calling for nominations for the city's 2017 Outstanding Older American, part of the Community Services Department's participation in the 52nd Annual Older Americans Recognition Day.
The nominee criteria are:
- Man or woman, age 65 or older
- Has not been honored at the event in previous years
- Has performed outstanding volunteer service for the San Gabriel community
This program is designed to seek out and honor an older adult who is actively involved in serving others in the community and exemplifies the true spirit of volunteerism. Nomination forms must be submitted by Feb. 16 to the Community Services Department, 250 S Mission Drive. The 2017 Older American will be recognized at the April 18 City Council Meeting, when the Council and the community will also celebrate San Gabriel’s 104th anniversary of incorporation.
