San Gabriel community members are invited to ask questions and share their opinions on the draft of the city's new Historic Preservation and Cultural Resource Ordinance on Thursday, Jan. 19.
The city released the draft of the new ordinance last month, and invited any interested community members to review it online and provide feedback by Jan. 30. At the January meeting, city officials and representatives for the city's consultants, Chattel Inc. and SWCA Inc., will be available to answer questions on the ordinance.
The new ordinance updates the city's original Historic Preservation Ordinance, which was approved more than 50 years ago. The new ordinance is much more in-depth and lays out a specific set of procedures and regulations to ensure the city's historic structures and resources are preserved.
Comments on the draft should be submitted electronically to Senior Planner Larissa De La Cruz at ldelacruz@sgch.org by Jan. 30. Comments can also be submitted at the public meeting.
The public meeting on the draft ordinance will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 425 S Mission Drive.
