The brand new marquee in front of the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse was officially up and running this week, with just a few final details left to be installed before it is fully completed.
The new sign has an improved, historically accurate design and a state-of-the-art LED message board with the ability to easily change the text and also translate it into other languages. The marquee is a great new communications tool for the Playhouse and the city, as it can also be used to display city news and even emergency alerts.
The marquee replaced the outdated sign that used to sit in front of theater. The old sign had been in disrepair for years and also was not architecturally compatible with the Playhouse itself. The design of the new marquee was approved by the Planning Commission and the San Gabriel Historical Association.
