The city-sponsored after school program began this week at San Gabriel elementary schools.
The program, sponsored by the Community Services Department, offers children grades two through five a chance to participate in traditional fall sports, homework assistance, arts and crafts and other fun activities. The sports program is only available for grades 3 through 5.
The after-school programs are held at Coolidge, McKinley, Roosevelt, Washington and Wilson Elementary schools five days a week from 2:15 to 5:00 p.m., with an earlier 1:30 p.m. start time on Wednesdays.
Registration is now open for this free program. Just stop by and meet the Recreation Leaders at your playground site. Participants must have a parent or guardian complete and sign a participant information form and return it to their Recreation Leader in order to participate. This is a sign-in and sign-out program.
Jefferson Middle School will begin its after school sports program the week of Aug. 22.
