Independence Day is just around the corner, and San Gabriel has plenty of family fun planned for the annual Kids’ Day and 4th of July Parade on Monday, July 4.
The parade will begin at a new time at 9:00 a.m. at Plaza Park, 428 S Mission Drive, and travel north on Mission Drive and east on Broadway. Parade entries will be accepted the day of the parade at Plaza Park and participants will receive awards for patriotic attire and decorations.
Following the parade will be a free Kids’ Day picnic at Smith Park, complete with a delicious barbecue, picnic games, community booths, a watermelon eating contest and plenty of entertainment. Enter to win a quilt in the picnic raffle. New this year, attendees can enjoy a live band, Rock Bottom, during the picnic. Smith Park Pool will be open for free recreational swim from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
