San Gabriel is kicking off the summer series with Surf's Up, a free block party on Thursday, June 22 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Mission District. This event features live entertainment and plenty of family-friendly fun activities.
This year's event will include:
- Beach Boys tribute tunes by Woody & The Longboards
- LED poi-illuminated light and Polynesian dance performances by the South Bay Luaus
- Hawaiian and Polynesian dance performance by the members of our dance class at the Community Services Department, led by Lori Andrews
- Food trucks including Rice Balls of Fire, Tropic Truck, Bison Burger and Eagle Rock BBQ
- A beer and wine garden hosted by the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce where visitors can purchase alcoholic beverages
- Inflatable rock-climbing wall for all ages
- Kids' zone, carnival games and balloon art
- Community booths
Street closure:
Mission Drive will be closed between Santa Anita and W. Broadway from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Parking:
Parking will be available at the Mission Playhouse (enter from W. Broadway) and the Del Mar Park & Ride lot.
