San Gabriel Police Department’s Community Academy has returned for its Fall session and is now accepting applications from interested attendees through Friday, September 23.
Taking place every Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning September 26, this twelve-week course offers an introduction to various SGPD bureaus, community programs and the criminal justice system. Community members will have the chance to participate in hands-on activities that offer an authentic law enforcement experience, including police tactics, self-defense, and firearms safety. Translation services will be available in Spanish and Mandarin.
Admission will be based on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified applicants, who will need to pass a basic background check. Qualified applicants who are not admitted into this session will be waitlisted for the next Academy session.
