As we continue on the road to recovery, the San Gabriel Police Department is announcing that timed parking enforcement will resume on May 26 to coincide with the state’s Phase 2 reopening strategy. Beginning Tuesday, May 27, and extending for 15 days, officers will begin providing warnings in lieu of citations for vehicles that are parked in timed parking areas. After this 15-day grace period, active enforcement will ensue.
Overnight parking enforcement remains suspended until the state reaches additional stages of reopening. We will notify you when enforcement of overnight parking resumes.
The original relaxation of timed parking and the continued relaxation of overnight parking stem from the effects of COVID-19. These temporary and continued measures were implemented to provide relief to residents and visitors during the most stringent levels of the state and county Safer/Safe at Home orders. As these policies change, we will gradually reinstate normal parking enforcement protocols, commensurate with the phased reopening efforts of the state.
