[ARCHIVED] A Message from Mayor Denise Menchaca

A message from Mayor Denise Menchaca

To the San Gabriel community,

As we continue to adapt to challenging times as a result of COVID-19, I want to recognize our community for coming together to help our fellow neighbors. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen countless examples of our community practicing physical distancing to keep our most vulnerable population protected. We’ve seen neighbors assist one another to get essential goods, and we’ve seen community leaders and local businesses step up to organize and to donate protective equipment for our health care professionals, first responders and essential workers who work tirelessly to provide us essential services. These selfless acts have been inspiring to me, and they give me hope that San Gabriel’s brightest days are still ahead.

While we continue to grapple with the effects of COVID-19, it’s essential that we all follow the advice of our health officials to mitigate the effects of this disease. This includes wearing face covers, utilizing at least six feet of physical distance when performing essential tasks and remaining at home until we have adequately addressed the spread of COVID-19. The City has been closely following the guidance of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health alongside the California Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help address the ongoing health crisis. We encourage you to follow these trusted resources as we navigate through these uncertain times.

The collaborative and selfless acts that we’ve seen so far will have to continue as we work together to address COVID-19. The City Council and our City staff remain committed to providing support to our community, including residents and businesses who may require assistance. I encourage you to read our COVID-19 resource section of our website to see what type of resources are available on the local, state and federal level. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

While these remain challenging times, our San Gabriel family will get through this together.
