City Council

The following is a wrap-up of the February 18 City Council meeting. You may view the complete agenda here as well as a video of the meeting here.

City Council reviews mixed-use project at 220 South San Gabriel Boulevard

The City Council recently reviewed a mixed-use project with 153 residential condominium units and 34,835 square feet of retail and restaurant on a 3.66-acre site located at 220 South San Gabriel Boulevard. The proposed project would demolish the existing buildings and redevelop the area with over 30,000 square feet of commercial space and 153 condominium units.

Since the last City Council review, the developer has agreed to:

  • Contribute $1,100,000 to the City for affordable housing
  • Assist the San Gabriel Fire Department in responding to the project by contributing $200,000 to be used to improve SGFD facilities.
  • Secure restaurant tenants that will not result in the over concentration of certain types of restaurants. The developer should use good faith efforts to attract restaurant operators from a variety of cuisine types, including Italian, French, Californian, continental, steak, Mexican or European.

These conditions are in addition to several previous conditions that were outlined by the City Council, which may be viewed here on page eight. With this review of this project phase by the City Council complete, the development is now subject to review by the Design Review Commission before proceeding to Building Plan Check.
