Picnic Reservations

WP4_9051The Community Services Department currently offers Picnic Reservations at Smith Park and Vincent Lugo Park.  

All parks have picnic areas for public use for picnics, birthday parties, reunions, or other types of get-togethers. Picnic areas have a compliment of tables and barbecue grills and can accommodate parties of 50 to 125 people.  Picnic areas are reserved on a first come, first-served basis.

All picnic reservations must be made at least two weeks prior to event and are first come first served. The Application for Use of Picnic Area
and full payment must be submitted together. 


Smith Park

Smith Park is located at 232 W Broadway. Amenities include a tiny-tot playground (6 yrs. and younger), a children's play area (7 yrs. and older), lighted basketball court, two lighted tennis courts, four lighted handball courts, and three picnic areas.

This charming park is home to the Gabrielino Picnic Area, which can accommodate up to 125 people, with one large and three small shelters which have 8-12 tables and three barbecues. The Gabrielino Picnic Area is the only area available for rental at Smith Park. All other picnic areas are first come, first serve on any given day.  

Vincent Lugo Park

Vincent Lugo Park is located at the corner of Wells and Ramona Streets and is the City's largest park and recreation resource. Amenities include a dry riverbed that is designed to drain to the Alhambra Wash, multipurpose trails along the wash and throughout the park, pedestrian lighting, athletic field and open space, outdoor class room, lighted baseball field, an outdoor classroom, and three picnic areas.  
This beautiful park is home to La Laguna de San Gabriel, also known as Dinosaur Park, which has been named one of nine of America's coolest playgrounds! La Laguna is home to 14 concrete play structures and an adjacent picnic area with 10 tables and barbecue area, which can accommodate up to 100 people.  Also available for reservation are the Sage and Oak Picnic Areas, which each have six tables, barbecue grills, and a capacity for 50 people.  

Marshall Park- NEW! 

Marshall Park is located at 311 West Marshall Street. Funded by the Prop 84 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program of 2008, the park offers a walking/jogging path, multi-purpose areas, playgrounds, covered picnic areas, lighted basketball courts and restrooms. Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood the park boasts two picnic shelters available for reservations: Marshall and Norwood. Each area has six tables and a 50 person maximum capacity. The picnic shelters are operated on a first come first served basis until January. Submit your application now for reservations on or after January 5, 2019.

*Commercial equipment such as bounce houses or automated rides are strictly prohibited at all City Parks.
