The city attorney attends City Council and Planning Commission meetings and advises the council on legal matters for the city. The city attorney is appointed by the City Council and prepares all ordinances, contracts, resolutions, bonds, and written matters required by the council.

The city attorney also approves legal documents for official signature and acts as the city prosecutor.
