The Economic Development Division is concerned with the economic vitality and financial well being of the City. Projects that will improve the business community and attract private investment is a particular focus of this division. The Division, by working with business owners and real estate developers, attempts to bring projects together that will increase revenues and bring jobs to the city.

The Economic Development Division:
  • Works directly to create and retain existing businesses and jobs.
  • Market San Gabriel to the public-at-large.
  • Facilitates the development processes, thereby making it easier for developers & retail owners to do business in our city.
  • Maximizes the economic potential of city-owned lease properties.
  • Addresses the housing needs of low-income residents with limited financial resources by creating low- and moderate-income housing units.
  • Oversees the federal Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) which funds such things as code enforcement and recreation activities.
