Summer playgrounds are open from July 2 to August 15, for youth ages 5 to 16, and are located at Dewey School, Smith Park and Washington School.  Playgrounds will be closed on July 4th.  Additional school locations to be determined.  For more information, please call the Recreation Office at 308-2875. Playgrounds will be open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Activities will include arts & crafts, games, sports, trips, and special events all supervised by Recreation Leaders.  In the event that the playgrounds are closed for additional events, information will be posted.  Be sure to check with the Recreation Leaders regarding special events.

This program is not a substitute for day care.  Parents and guardians must be aware that this is a drop-in program.  Staff encourages children to remain on the playground, but children are free to come and go.  Staff is not responsible for children who choose to leave the playground and will not notify parents when a child leaves the playground.  Parents and guardians should encourage their children to remain at the playground.  All participants must have a parent or guardian complete and sign a Participant Information Form and return it to their Recreation Leader.

The FREE LUNCH program will again be available to children, 18 years of age and under, and will be provided without regard to race, color, national origin, gender or disability.  Lunch will be served weekdays between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Dewey School, McKinley School, Smith Park, Vincent Lugo Park and Washington School.  This lunch program is administered by the San Gabriel Unified School District.  For more information, please call the Recreation Office at 308-2875.
