- Effective January 1, 2007 all travelers who enter the U.S. by air travel or sea travel must have a passport.
- Passports must be renewed every 10 years for adults and every 5 years for children under 16.
- The routine waiting time to receive your passport is 6 weeks.
- Routine expedited wait time to receive your passport is 2 weeks.

The San Gabriel Recreation Office is a designated Passport Acceptance Agency, authorized by the U.S. Department of State to accept Passport applications.
Avoid the traffic and long lines at the Los Angeles Passport Agency and make your appointment for passport services at the San Gabriel Recreation Office. You can also receive walk-in passport service at the San Gabriel Recreation Office, Monday through Friday, from first-come, first-served basis.
Passport processing fees are $55 for persons 16 years or older and $40 for persons under the age of 16. Only checks or money orders are accepted and should be made payable to “Department of State.” The Recreation Office charges an acceptance fee of $30 per application. An approved applicant photograph is required on all passports and can be obtained at the Recreation Department for only $10. The acceptance fee & photograph fee may be paid by cash, check, credit card or money order to the “City of San Gabriel”.
Got an Emergency? Travelers departing within 2 weeks must call for an appointment to be served at the Los Angeles passport Agency (only those with an appointment will be admitted to the agency). The appointment system can be accessed 24 hours a day from a touchtone phone by calling: (310) 575-5700. Those traveling in more than two weeks must apply for their passport through their local passport acceptance facility.
