In an ongoing effort to engage the entire San Gabriel community, Police Chief Eugene Harris will hold the first-ever Boba With The Chief event on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Asian Youth Center, 100 W Clary Ave.
The event will be a great opportunity for community members to interact with the chief in an informal setting, where they can feel comfortable asking questions and voicing concerns. There will be officers available to translate in Mandarin, Cantonese and Spanish. Tea Station will provide free boba drinks for all who attend.
The event is part of a larger campaign Harris launched when he was hired in the city in October. Harris' goal is to make the Police Department more accessible to residents and help community members feel that their voices are being heard.

The entire community will bring in the Year of the Fire Rooster at the 3rd Annual San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017.
The festival has grown every year since the inaugural event in 2015. Last year's event drew an estimated 7,000 people to the Mission District for a day filled with free family fun.
This year, the event will include a dance competition, street food fair, crafts village, dessert land, a chalk art competition, beer and wine garden, art and shopping, a kids zone and free live entertainment all day on the main festival stage. The festival is free to attend and open to everyone.
The San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival will go from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the historic Mission District.
The festival is sponsored by the City of San Gabriel, KSCI LA 18 and Hilton Los Angeles/San Gabriel. For more information, or to participate as a vendor, sponsor or community group, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Community Services Department at 626.30
