Dine San Gabriel with these highly rated restaurants

We recently informed you about dineL.A., a two-week dining adventure that takes place twice a year and highlights many Los Angeles restaurants throughout the county. Now that dineL.A. is over, we encourage you to explore some of San Gabriel’s best-rated restaurants according to Yelp. 

While there is some controversy on the validity of Yelp reviews, the platform is still one of the most widely used websites for restaurant recommendations. Here’s a list of San Gabriel’s top restaurants as rated by reviewers on Yelp:

Craving some delicious Korean food? Located in the San Gabriel Promenade (168 Market shopping center) on Las Tunas Drive, Young Dong Tofu House stands out among its neighboring restaurants. Their signature dish features a combination of a warm bowl of tofu soup and a sizzling plate of meat and rice. Located next to Popeyes at the intersection of San Gabriel Boulevard and Valley Boulevard, Boston Lobster serves high-quality lobster with additional Chinese favorites. The lobster dishes come with a variety of sides and options, including noodles and rice.

Founded in 1948, Claro’s Italian Market stands as one of the longest running restaurants in the city. Great Grandpa Joe, Claro’s most popular sandwich, comes with fresh capocollo, mortadella, dry salame, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, sliced pepperoncini and oil dressing. On the weekends, Claro’s Italian Market also serves fresh, hot pizza.

A Mission District favorite, Pulciano’s Deli & Cafe is known for their flavorful sandwiches. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, be sure to grab their signature sandwich – the California Mafia! This sandwich comes with avocado served on toasted garlic bread. Other great options include the Hal’s Club with turkey, roast beef and ham with cheese and avocado or Chucks Jalapeno, with turkey, roast beef, provolone cheese and avocado served with jalapenos.

Featuring a fusion of several South East Asian flavors, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian and Thai, New Port Seafood is known for their flavorful seafood – including their signature lobster dish with ginger and green onion. If you’re looking for a spicier take, they also offer lobster with salt and pepper or lobster with black bean sauce. Of course, New Port Seafood also offers other seafood plates, including sea abalone, frog, crab, clams and oysters among many other dishes.

Known as one of the most authentic and popular Vietnamese restaurants in San Gabriel, Golden Deli offers a variety of Vietnamese dishes, including pho, com tam, and bun bo hue, along with other appetizers and sides. Its most popular pho dish includes rib-eye beef and brisket beef, topped with tendon and tripe served with vermicelli, bean sprouts and onions.
