PROJECT OVERVIEW:


In 2000 the City Council recognized that the city's 11,800 sq. ft. police facility was in desperate need of replacement. Built in 1962, it is in a dilapidated state, extremely undersized for the number of staff it supports and lacks the elements (Dispatch Center, Jail, Community Room, etc.) of a modern police facility.

PROJECT TIMELINE:


  • 2000 - needs assessment completed
  • 2003 - received Council approval to relocate Public Works from site
  • 2005 - develop funding stream
  • 2009 to present - allow funding stream to accrue
  • 2009 to present – develop and finalize construction documents (nearly complete, updates pending)
  • Present – beginning the "Value Engineering" phase for the construction project
    • bidding process will begin shortly to select the contractor for demolition of the exisitng formally occupied Public Works buildings which are now vacant
    • relocation of radio communications antennas in progress
