  • Be treated with courtesy and respect;
  • Be given prompt and courteous service;
  • Be provided service from knowledgeable, competent and cooperative staff;
  • Be given complete, accurate, reliable information and feedback;
  • Be provided with consistent and fair application of codes and rules;
  • Formally appeal staff decisions, where the code allows appeals;
  • Communicate appreciation or dissatisfaction about staff, Department policies, procedures, or requirements;
  • Collaborate with our staff to explore options and offer creative solutions; and
  • Expect a "can do" attitude from our staff.

As our valued customer, we expect you to:


  • Treat staff with courtesy and respect;
  • Represent your projects accurately and honestly;
  • Submit accurate, complete, and code-compliant plans;
  • Inform staff of plan changes or project modifications in a timely manner;
  • Obtain appropriate permits before beginning projects;
  • Build projects safely according to approved plans and in compliance with codes and rules; and
  • Feel free to ask questions when you do not understand code requirements or staff communications.
